The shoot day

Runner has five tabs: Map, Errands, Comms, Scouting and Today. Today shows your call, the call sheet, the day’s scenes with their pages, and where you are shooting.

Everything here lives under Runner on the home screen, one tab each.

Today

Today opens on the shoot day you are working, or the next one. Pick another day from the chips at the top.

  1. Your call is the time you are due. Under it are the crew call, on set and first shot.
  2. The call sheet card shows the weather, sunrise and sunset, parking, the hospital and notes. Tap Open call sheet to read the whole sheet and tap Confirm receipt. The office sees that you opened it and confirmed. Tap PDF to open the printable sheet.
  3. All call sheets lists every call sheet sent to you.
  4. Under Scenes, tap a scene to open it (see below).
  5. Under Locations, tap one for its address and contact. All locations lists every location on the project.

When the office changes a call sheet you have, your phone tells you.

Today keeps a copy on the phone. With no signal, it shows the last copy and a line such as Offline · saved 7:02 AM.

A scene

  1. Sides shows the scene’s script pages.
  2. Shots lists the shot list for the scene. If your role can edit shots, tap a shot’s status to change it, or tap the check to mark it done.
  3. Breakdown lists what the scene needs: props, wardrobe and the rest. If your role can edit them, tap an item’s status: To do, Ready, On set or Wrapped.

A location

The address has a Navigate button. Tap the contact’s phone or email to call, text or write. The page says whether a permit is needed. Photos of the location are at the bottom. Tap Add photo to add one.

Errands

The list shows errands assigned to you. Each one is Assigned, En route or Done. Tap one to see the address, the due time and notes. The time on each errand is a rough drive time from where you are.

Button What it does
Start — I’m en route Moves it to En route. The office sees the change on its dispatch board.
Mark done Moves it to Done.
Reopen Moves a done errand back.
Navigate Opens the address in your maps app.

While an errand is en route and you share your location, the app keeps sending it with the screen off.

Under Photos, add a photo or a short clip as proof, such as a receipt or the item delivered.

If your role can manage errands, you also see New errand and a Mine / All switch. On an errand you can Edit, Reassign or delete it.

Comms

Switch between Chat and Contacts at the top.

  1. Chat lists Departments and Rooms. A number on a room is how many messages you have not read. You are in your own department’s room from the start. The production manager can add you to others.
  2. Contacts lists the crew. Turn on Share my contact info to let your department see your phone and email. It is off until you turn it on. Shared contacts have Call, Text and Email buttons.

You can attach a photo or video to a message. Press and hold your own message to delete it.

Map

The map shows crew who share their location. The office sees the same pins on its live crew map. Share my location is a switch on the map, and it starts off.

Scouting

Log gear you find while scouting. Tap New item on iPhone or New on Android. Fill in the name, category and vendor, then tap Create. Add photos to the item from the field. To remove an item, open it and tap Delete item. Adding, changing and deleting items needs a role that can edit locations.

Your photos

On a photo you added, press and hold it on iPhone, or tap it on Android. Then pick Edit caption or Delete.

Settings

Tap the gear on the home screen. Pick Light, Dark or System for how the app looks.
