Locations, permits and contacts

Import makes a location from each scene heading. The pencil button opens Edit Location for the address, contact, permit, availability and daily rate. The pin button opens a scouting map with the weather and nearby services.

Adding a location

Script import adds a location for each place named in a scene heading. To add one by hand:

  1. Start a new location

On the Locations tab, click + Add Location.

  2. Name it

    Name is required.

  3. Add the address

Start typing in Address and pick a match from the list. That also fills in the city, state, country and map position.

  4. Save

    Click Save.

The Rialto Cinema row: INT, NIGHT, Permit required, 38 scenes, D: 10 pgs, N: 24 6/8 pgs, and the pin, pencil, Redescribe and Regenerate buttons

The name sits between the setting and time of day that most of its scenes use. A yellow Permit required badge shows when the permit switch is on. Under the address are the scene count and the pages shot there by day (D:) and by night (N:).

For the rest of the row, see the list screen.

Add any Permit Notes, such as the permit number or hours allowed.

  3. Upload the permit

Click Upload PDF or image under Permit Document. PDF, JPG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF and WebP all work. The file uploads right away.

  4. Check it

Scout the area

The pin button opens a scouting window for the location. It needs a map position, so it stays grey until the location has a Latitude and Longitude. Picking an address from the search list sets both.

The window opens on a map of the area with a key under it. Below the map are the Current Weather and the address, with a Get Directions link.

Nearby Services lists the closest shops, hospitals and fuel stops. To find some other kind of place, such as a park, click Add Custom POI and search for it.

When you change the services list, a Save button appears at the top.
