Permissions and devices

Start from a production role, then adjust each area. Closed areas hide their tabs. A revoked device is signed out at once.

Set someone’s access

The Access & permissions dialog for a Director of Photography on the Crew level
  1. Press Access on their row

Access & permissions opens with their name and role. Your own row has no Access button.

  2. Start from a production role

Start from a production role has presets like Producer, Line Producer, 1st Assistant Director, Director of Photography, Production Accountant and Investor / Observer. Each fills in the whole grid and shows a line on what it allows.

  3. Or pick a level

Manager can edit everything. Crew reads the script, schedule, shot list, locations, art and editorial, sees the roster, and can post in crew comms and media. Viewer reads the creative work only, with no comms, roster, budget or contracts.

  4. Fine-tune by area

Set each area to None, View or Edit. An area you change from the level’s default gets a custom tag. Reset to and the level name clears your changes.

  5. Save access

Press Save access. Anything other than Manager shows as a tag next to their name on the roster.

The twelve areas are Story & script, Schedule & call sheets, Budget, Deal memos, Team & access, Locations & scouting, Art & design, Shot list, Editorial, Crew comms, Media and Project settings.

What None means

An area at None is closed. Its tab doesn’t show at all, and the server refuses its data too, so hiding the tab isn’t the only guard.

New people start as Crew, so the budget and deal memos are closed to them until you open them. A crew member can still see their own deal memo.

You can’t give anyone more access than you have. You can’t change your own access either.

Devices

Phones, tablets and edit machines signed in to the project are listed on the Devices tab. Each shows its name, the person it belongs to, and when it was last seen. Back on Team, each person’s row says how many devices they have signed in.

Connected Devices: three crew phones and a revoked one, and two devices with an Account tag
  1. Sign one device out

Press × on its row and confirm Revoke device?. It’s signed out right away and gets a Revoked tag. To come back, it needs a new code from Connect Device.

  2. Sign out several

Press Select next to Connected Devices, pick the devices, and press Revoke.

  3. Remove someone who signed in with their account

A device with an Account tag signed in with that person’s own login, so it reaches every project they’re on. It has no ×. Press Show in team list and remove them from the team to cut it off from this project.

People can also sign their own devices out on the Devices tab in their settings.

Access is per project. Someone on two of your projects has separate access on each, and a device paired to one project can’t open the other.
