Fields and status

An item records what it is, where to get it and what it costs a day. Status runs from To find to Scouted, Reserved, Rented and Returned, with Passed for the ones you turned down.

The fields

Field What it’s for
Name What the thing is. Be exact, since you’ll search this list later.
Category The same fifteen as the Breakdown: Prop, Vehicle, Animal, Stunt, Lighting and the rest.
Vendor / rental house Who has it.
Daily rate ($) What it costs per day. With a rate on every item, you can add up the hire bill.
Status How far along you are in getting it. See below.
Return due The day a rental has to go back to the vendor.
Contact, Phone, Email, Website Who to call at the vendor. Phone, email and website are links on the card.
Address Where the item is. A 📍 link on the card opens it in Google Maps. A photo taken with location on fills the spot in for you.
Notes Condition, who you spoke to, what they said about the deal.

The card shows the name, then the category, vendor and rate on one line, like “Camera · Panavision · $200/day”. Notes show under that, cut to two lines, and the photos sit below. A card with no photos says No photos yet.

Status

Status here is about getting the thing. The prep status on a breakdown item is a different question: whether it’s ready to shoot.

Status Means
To find The script needs it and nobody has found it yet. Every Breakdown element starts here.
Scouted Found and photographed. You’re only looking.
Reserved Held with the vendor, not picked up yet. Many rental houses charge for a hold.
Rented You have it, and the days are adding up. The Breakdown element turns Ready.
Returned Back with the vendor. The Breakdown element turns Wrapped.
Passed Looked at and turned down. Kept so nobody scouts it again.

Due back

A rented item with a Return due day shows when it has to go back, like ”↩ Due tomorrow”. It turns amber two days out and red once it’s late. Click Needs return above the cards to see only the rentals that are late or due in the next two days, the soonest first.

Delete

Delete on a card asks first, then removes the item. Its photos stay in Media. If it was the item for one Breakdown element, that element goes too, and the question says so first.
